Actually, the comic has it right, the correction is wrong. It’s just a shorter way of saying “Younger than I am.” You wouldn’t say “Younger than me am.” It merely sounds odd because so many people say it the wrong way.
I for one am glad to see somebody finally got it right.
And I love the look of the guy in the second panel – I can’t quite tell if he’s thinking “he did WHAT?” or “What is he scheming?” I’m thinking a little of both.
“Younger than me”, while grammatically incorrect, is a more frequently-used way of saying it, but to satisfy both parties I would just put the “am” at the end of the current phrase and change “He is” to “He’s” (so “He’s younger than I am!”); then it wouldn’t sound too stiff (as it currently may) and won’t be grammatically wrong either.
Vetala and the comic are both right – and more people say it correctly than you might think. My entire family does, and I’ve started to convert my friends into using proper English (though I know that languages are highly mutable – I just prefer to speak properly).
Suisei’s compromise is reasonable, as it is still grammatically correct.

I agree with the correction. “Younger than me” sounds better.

Grammatical correctness or not, “younger than me” sounds better for some reason.
